摘要: Although "intellectual disability" has widely replaced the term "mental retardation", debate as to whether this entity should be conceptualized a health condition or disability intensified revision of World Health Organization (WHO)'s International Classification Diseases (ICD) advances. Defining intellectual is central retaining it in ICD, with significant implications for policy and access services. This paper presents consensus reached date by WHO ICD Working Group on Intellectual Disabilities. Literature reviews were conducted mixed qualitative approach was followed series meetings produce consensus-based recommendations combining prior expert knowledge available evidence. The proposes replacing mental retardation developmental disorders, defined "a group conditions characterized impairment cognitive functions, which are associated limitations learning, adaptive behaviour skills". further advises that disorders incorporated larger grouping (parent category) neurodevelopmental current subcategories based clinical severity (i.e., mild, moderate, severe, profound) continued, problem behaviours removed from core classification structure instead described features.
