摘要: Environmental enrichment in rodents may improve animal well-being but can affect neurologic development, immune system function, and aging. We tested the hypothesis that wood block affects interpretation of traditional transcriptomic endpoints an exploratory toxicology testing model using a well-characterized reference compound, cyclophosphamide. ANOVA was performed to distinguish effects separate from 40 mg/kg cyclophosphamide treatment. Biologically relevant statistically significant occurred only for body weight gain. demonstrated expected on food consumption, spleen weight, hematology. According endpoints, induced fewer changes gene expression liver than spleen. Splenic pathways affected by included: iron hemostasis; vascular tissue angiotensin system; hepatic stellate cell activation fibrosis; complement activation; TGFβ-induced hypertrophy monocytes, macrophages, atherosclerosis; platelet activation. Changes these due treatment were consistent with bone marrow toxicity regardless enrichment. In second study, neither nor type cage flooring altered or consumption over 28-d period after first week. conclusion, did not interfere typical study; ingested drug level kinetics require further consideration.
