摘要: Abstract Carbon dots are emerging in the nanotechnology field as newest class of fluorescent probes, owing to their high water-solubility, good chemical and photo-stability tunable photoluminescence. The ability metal cations quench carbon fluorescence is already well known. Anyway, a dedicated study directed rational design optimal dot probe still missing. Herein we present novel synthetic method for production nanodots from an economic environmental polluting starting material: olive solid wastes. obtained efficiently quenched presence Fe3+, allowing cation detection. Starting comprehensive on quenching mechanism, have been able develop effective strategies modulate sensing properties these dots. sensitivity linear range tuned by modulating surface functionalization nanoparticles. selectivity toward Fe3+ has improved growing around porous microsphere ion imprinted polymer. results highlighted this work demonstrate that can be modulated meet requirement users, tailored probes wide applications.
