Study of phenol–water complexes using frequency‐ and time‐resolved pump–probe photoionization

摘要: Two‐color multiphoton ionization has been used to study phenol–water complexes containing one phenol and one, two, three water molecules. Photoionization efficiency spectra show that phenol–(H2O) possesses a sharp threshold, giving an adiabatic potential of 63 980 cm−1 (1300 lower than previously reported). This is followed by vibrational progression in the ion about 240 assigned hydrogen bond stretching motion. Spectra obtained with wavelength set so as avoid fragmentation have resulted reassignment S1 state phenol–(H2O)2 phenol–(H2O)3. taken laser delayed 300 ns reveal both phenol–(H2O)3 lose two molecules after intersystem crossing from vibrationless level state.
