摘要: AIMS: Previous comparisons of cognitive decline among patients with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia have found somehow quite similar profiles deficits, but results varied between studies. Therefore an extensive thoughtful systematic review the matter is warranted. METHODS: Studies were through search (PubMed) following PRISMA guidelines. To be included, studies must assessed functions: executive functions, memory, IQ, attention-concentration perceptuomotor function. In order to make comparison two entities, should include operationally defined euthymia, schizophrenic in remission, third group healthy control patients. Comparisons made after controlling for years schooling residual affective symptoms. RESULTS: We that overall both SZ BD present deficits on all neurocognitive measures compared controls (HC). particular, show more severe pervasive while a milder confined impairment. addition, evidence from literature suggests share impairment profile different degrees deficits. Therefore, difference groups seems quantitative (degree deficit) rather than qualitative (profile), supporting dimensional approach clinical entities. Limitations includes impossibility effects medication, varying time required assessment across studies, illness diagnosis reliability course severity CONCLUSIONS: Patients might exhibit could terms their profile, although may widespread impairments.
