EFFECT OF ACID AND ALKALI TREATMENTS ON SURFACE-CHARGE PROPERTIES OF SELECTED MINERALS

摘要: Bentonite, biotite, illite, kaolin, vermiculite and zeolite were treated with 0.1, 1.0 5.0 mol. dm−3 HCl or NaOH. Suspensions of Na homoionic forms the initial minerals back titrated 0.1 From back-titration data variable surface charge, Q V, vs. pH dependencies apparent dissociation constant distribution functions estimated. Variable charge curves scaled against cation exchange capacity at 7.2 to obtain actual A, plots. In general both treatments led an increase while A value increased decreased depending on mineral treatment. Products 5 mol NaOH action 1 kaolin apparently developed a positive below ~3.7 ~4.3, respectively. The heterogeneity charge-generating groups was observed in natural minerals.
