摘要: The strain load Δγ that triggers consecutive avalanches is a key observable in the slow deformation of amorphous solids. Its temporally averaged value 〈Δγ〉displays non-trivial system-size dependence constitutes one distinguishing features yielding transition. Details this are not yet fully understood. We address problem by means theoretical analysis and simulations elastoplastic models for An accurate determination size 〈Δγ〉 leads to precise evaluation steady-state distribution local distances instabilityx. find usually assumed formP(x)~xθ(with θ being so-called pseudo-gap exponent) at lowxand generalP(x)tends system-size-dependent finite limit asx→0. work out consequences finite-size standing on exact results random-walks disclosing an alternative interpretation mechanical noise felt reference site. test our predictions two- three-dimensional models, showing crucial influence saturation ofP(x)at smallxon 〈Δγ〉and related scalings.
