摘要: Background: Posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is a common complication following extracapsular cataract extraction. The objectives of this study were to determine the frequency involved age groups, duration and type posterior opacification, improvement in vision complications capsulotomy with ND: YAG Laser. Material Methods: This was conducted Department Ophthalmology, District Headquarters Teaching Hospital, Kohat, from January 2007 June 2008. Patients aging more than 10 years significantly impaired visual acuity due included. having very thick capsules, patients PCO traumatic surgery, advanced glaucoma, diabetic or other retinopathies dislocated intraocular lenses excluded. Results: Total number 250 including 135(54%) males 115(46%) females. Age group 1, 2, 3 4 had 13(5.2%), 40(16%), 65(26%) 132(52.8%) respectively. development maximum i.e. 40% between 03 12 months. poor best corrected (6/60-CF) 150 (60%) reduced 5 (2%) procedure. good (6/6-6/9) zero (0%) enhanced 195 (78%) Frequency laser raised pressure 25(10%) patients, IOL damage 30(12%), rupture anterior vitreous face 13(5.5%), uveitis 20(8%), cystoid macular edema 20(8%) retinal 5(2%). Conclusion: Nd:YAG safe, effective convenient method for treatment opacification.
