摘要: A common strategy to understand a biological system is selectively perturb it and observe its response. Although technologies now exist manipulate cellular systems at the genetic transcript level, direct manipulation of functions protein level can offer significant advantages in precision, speed, reversibility. Combining specificity spatiotemporal resolution light- small molecule-based approaches allows exquisite control over subtly interest in vitro in vivo. Conditional perturbation mechanisms may be broadly characterized by change intracellular localization, intramolecular activation, or degradation protein-of-interest. Here we review recent advances for conditional regulation function suggest further areas potential development.
