摘要: Background: World health organization (WHO) recommends the use of line probe assays (LiPAs) for rapid drug susceptibility testing (DST). However, only a limited number studies from Pakistan have documented performance characteristics in multi-drug resistant (MDR) strains Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Objectives: The objective this work is to evaluate diagnostic plausibility LiPA tests MTBDRplus and MTBDRsl on MDR MTB isolates Pakistan. Patients Methods: This was cross-sectional study conducted at Indus hospital, Karachi. performed 196 smear-positive samples using BACTEC MGIT 960 as gold standard. Results: sensitivity isoniazid rifampicin found be 88.8% 90.2%, respectively, while fluoroquinolones, amikacin/capreomycin, ethambutol 72.9%, 81.8%, 56.6%, respectively. Conclusions: genotypic can serve useful additional tools DST high-burden country like provided it used combination with phenotypic testing.
