摘要: Objective: To understand the onsetof menarche in relation to changes physical measurements that take place during adolescence, especially height velocity and body fat. Design: Adolescent girls 9-16 year age group were observed longitudinally every six months for a period of two years. Setting: Girls from schools catering urban high socio-economic class (HSE, n = 135) those low (LSE, 398) evaluated Methods: Six monthly weight, triceps skinfold thickness (TSFT) done. Menarcheal was recorded by recall method who menstruating at beginning study prospectively whose onset after initiation study. Body fat (%) estimated using TSFT. Results: The LSE not only had lower attained height, but also significant difference (p < 0.05) menarcheal (15.4 yr) as compared HSE (12.1yr).
