摘要: Paleo-tsunamis are commonly recognized by the presence of marine sand sheets with microfossils typical lagoons, estuaries and tidal marshes. Sediment sub-samples recovered from trenches located 500–700 m away present day shoreline at Kameshwaram, near Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu, Southeast Coast India, show lithological variation occurrences offshore regions. The assemblage foraminifera, ostracoda their distribution pattern in tsunami inundated area Kameshwaram coast is discussed. following species identified a depth 39–43 cm: Ammonia beccarii, Globigerina bulloides, Quinqueloculina sp., Spiroloculina orbis, Propontocypris bengalensis, crocata Phlyctenophora orientalis. These might have been brought high energy waves, which be 2004 deposit. However, 0–39 cm 43–80 cm, sediment un-fossiliferous. Based on carapace-valve ratio, higher rate sedimentation inferred. This preliminary work foraminiferal ostracod refers that paleo-tsunami sediments originated coastal to inner shelf environments.
