摘要: Context.—Molecular diagnostics play a role in the management of many cancers, including breast cancer. Objective.—To provide an update on molecular testing current clinical practice, targeted at practicing pathologists who are not cancer specialists. Data Sources.—This study is narrative literature review. Conclusions.—In addition to routine hormone (estrogen and progesterone) receptor testing, new recurrent tumors tested for HER2 amplification by situ hybridization or overexpression immunohistochemistry. Intrinsic subtyping represents fundamental advance our understanding biology, but currently it has indirect patient management. Clinical next-generation sequencing (tumor profiling) increasingly used identify potentially actionable mutations tumor tissue.
