摘要: Biomolecules are rarely orally bioavailable and parenteral injections the industry standard. Development of long acting delivery systems will continue to help biopharmaceuticals reach their full therapeutic potential. Long have manifested into a range products designed target optimal dosing requirements (prefilled syringes, injections, sustained release depots, controlled implants, targeted delivery, larger payloads). Sustained implants usually provide longer term duration than can be categorized bioerodible (rods cylinders) implantable devices. This chapter reviews biomolecules currently marketed or in clinical trials, utilizing technology sustained/controlled implants.
