摘要: Abstract Ultrasonic vibration assisted side grinding (UVASG) has outstanding performance in machining hard-and-brittle materials, such as ceramics. The cutting force is the key factor that affects machined surface/subsurface quality, which been investigated both experimentally and theoretically. However, combined effect of ductile removal brittle fracture on model UVASG ceramics not reported yet. In this study, a theoretical proposed with consideration ductile-to-brittle transition mechanism critical depth determined to distinguish region region. Besides, average depths have derived for modeling forces region, respectively. Then number active diamond grits presented development final model. parameter K introduced represent influence overlapping intersection between different grits. addition, relationship input variables revealed through Finally, pilot experiments are conducted verify experimental results consistent well predictions. Therefore, can be applied evaluate force, it provide better understanding effects during
