摘要: Different cyclic loading modes have been used in vitro fatigue studies of PMMA bone cement. It is unclear which mode most appropriate from the perspective vivo experienced by cement a cemented arthroplasty. Also, different studies, test specimen configurations used. The present work considers influence fabrication method (direct moulding vs followed machining) and cross-section shape (rectangular circular) on tension-tension performance two brands (SmartSet GHV CMW1), under force control conditions. Two trends were consistent: 1) for each cements, moulded specimens, longer life was obtained with circular cross-sectioned specimens and, 2) either rectangular or CMW1 using machined specimens. A comparison results to those reported our previous fully-reversed tension-compression showed that, regardless configuration used, considerably shorter than loading. This finding highlights fact that presence compression portion cycle accelerates failure.
