Determinants of research efficiency in Canadian business schools: evidence from scholar-level data

摘要: Using a large sample of faculty members Canadian business schools, this article attempts to shed new light on the efficiency academic research as measured, at researcher’s level, by peer-reviewed counts and citations. Metrics outputs from Web Science Google Scholar databases, augmented survey data factors explaining productivity impact performances these members, are used assess their perform an empirical investigation determinants researchers’ efficiency, using two-stage Bootstrap DEA approach. Results reveal that there is substantial room for improvements technical both across eight fields considered in study, within each field. The analyses also enabled identify might explain gap between scholars notably certification independent agencies, seniority, sources funding, affiliation school with doctoral program, prestige reputation university affiliation.
