摘要: Kalilo is a linear 9-kb plasmid, isolated originally from Hawaiian strains of the heterothallic fungus Neurospora intermedia. Its properties include terminal inverted repeats, two ORFs coding for presumptive DNA and an RNA polymerase, ability to cause senescence in its original host closely related species crassa. We have examined natural isolates alleged contain plasmids homologous kalilo. Most these do fact with so close identity kalilo as be certain relatives. found new case tetrasperma Moorea-Tahiti, LA-kalilo (previously only N. tetrasperma) crassa Haiti. A previously unreported, substantially shorter, variant has been three geographically separate discreta. Therefore, if reported genus Gelasinospora included, all there are four members plasmid family. The main differences between repeats (TIRs). phylogeny TIR sequences largely congruent that nuclear which they found, suggesting by vertical descent throughout evolution species. However, cases pseudohomothallic same global area; might arisen more recent horizontal transmission or introgression.
