摘要: Understanding and characterising movement area-use patterns of fishes within estuaries, as well understanding the degree connectivity between estuaries marine environment, can provide important insights into a species’ ecology, which is fundamental for effective management conservation. Mark-and-recapture data obtained from 082 TAG FISH Project, dart-tagging programme, were used to describe juvenile leervis Lichia amia in permanently open Swartkops Estuary, South Africa, with adjacent environment. A total 628 tagged 2008 2015, 77 fish (12.3%) recaptured, juveniles comprising 85.7% all measured recaptures. The majority recaptures (75.3%) made indicating estuarine philopatry, 23.4% having moved less than 1 km, revealing site fidelity, but most (51.9%) displaying roaming. smaller portion recapture...
