摘要: Preliminary results will be presented from the SINERGEE project, which combines simulations Met Office numerical weather prediction (NWP) model with data Geostationary Earth Radiation Budget (GERB) instrument on Meteosat-8. Initial comparisons of broad-band outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) and albedo show good agreement between GERB model, particularly over middle latitudes where moisture fields, hence diagnosed clouds, are well constrained by assimilation model. Despite initial problems data, for example relating to geolocation uncertainty, errors in fields identified. These include: (i) too much convective cloud tropical Africa at mid-day, (ii) lack organisation cloud, positional inter-tropical convergence zone, (iv) underestimates Sahara (v) overestimates OLR up 50 Wm parts Sahara. fluxes, produced Royal Meteorological Institute Belgium (RMIB), initially used Meteosat-7 define radiance flux conversion models. We present updated utilising fluxes RMIB that use SEVIRI high-resolution imager conversions, avoids angular mis-match encountered Meteosat–8 Meteosat–7 viewing. In addition it is planned conduct additional selected channels imager. The combination information surface atmospheric state together observations narrow-band radiances SEVIRI, enables research several areas followed: 1) Understanding Earth’s budget including radiative impact feedbacks water vapour aerosols, 2) Evaluation NWP analyses forecasts climate models using METEOSAT-8, 3) Monitoring evaluation satellite instruments, 4) Interaction field programmes. Many these applications enhanced near-real time nature comparisons.
