摘要: Neuromelanin (NM) is a complex polymer pigment found in catecholaminergic neurons of the human brain. The palour parkinsonian substantia nigra (SN) one most characteristic pathological features this disorder. A direct relationship between loss dopaminergic SN cells and their NM content has been reported, while other work suggests that may play protective function within cell. Evidence to date capable acting as mechanism cell via its ability bind variety potentially toxic substances, such exogenous cytotoxins heavy metals, inactivate damaging free radicals; on hand, presence increased tissue iron appears potentiate damage. This particularly relevant because SN; interaction result an rate radical production, leading loss.
