摘要: This paper describes the history and current status of NERSC (Northeast Region Standing Committee on Woodland Caribou), a government/industry partnership established to address issues related industrial development conservation woodland caribou {Rangifer tarandus caribou) in northeastern Alberta. In mid 1991, was with broad participation from oil gas forestry industries relevant government agencies. Its primary role has been as an advisory body through regional environmental resource management committee. Since its inception, it become open forum for annual review operating guidelines based adaptive management. highly successful at attracting financial support various sponsors co-ordinating appropriate research monitoring programs. Key achievements include: 1) greatly enhanced understanding problems, positions among diverse membership management; 2) delineation important habitats, improved population limiting factors; 3) modified more effective land use strategies; 4) recognized collaborative partnership.
