Densification, microstructure and mechanical properties of Mullite–TiC composites prepared by spark plasma sintering

摘要: Abstract Mullite–TiC composites were prepared using Mullite and TiC powders by spark plasma sintering at a temperature range of 1500–1600 °C for holding time 600 s under the pressure 20 MPa. Microstructure, strength hardness studied. The composite containing 10–30 wt% reached over 95% theoretical density 1550 °C nearly full 1600 °C. Vickers Mullite–(10 wt%)TiC sintered 1600 °C maximum value 274 MPa 1355 HV, respectively. Novel dense fabricated Spark process. It was found out that introduction can enhance mechanical properties matrix effectively.
