摘要: California sea lions are one of the major marine mammal species along Pacific coast North America. Sea susceptible to a wide variety viruses, some which can be transmitted or from terrestrial mammals. Using an unbiased viral metagenomic approach, we surveyed fecal virome in different ages and health statuses. Averages 1.6 2.5 distinct mammalian were shed by pups juvenile lions, respectively. Previously undescribed viruses four RNA virus families (Astroviridae, Picornaviridae, Caliciviridae, Reoviridae) DNA family (Parvoviridae) characterized. The first complete partial genomes sapeloviruses, sapoviruses, noroviruses, bocavirus mammals reported. Astroviruses bocaviruses showed highest prevalence abundance lion feces. diversity bacteriophages was higher unweaned than juveniles animals rehabilitation, where phage community consisted largely phages related Microviridae. This study increases our understanding mammals, highlights high rate enteric infections these highly social carnivores, may used as baseline survey for comparison with samples during unexplained disease outbreaks.
