Aid, Growth and Democracy

摘要: To the extent that aid is justified by benefits to recipient, rather than donor, it might be reasonably judged on two criteria: growth and poverty-alleviation. We study first of these criteria. find long-run impact conditional degree political civil liberties in recipient country. Aid has a positive countries with an institutionalized check governmental power; is, more democratic countries. The data suggest, however, if this not case, will used satisfy government’s own non-productive goals. also average channeled countries, even though there are large cross-country differences between major donors.
