Effects of domestic violence on children and their consequences for custody and visitation agreements

摘要: This research review provides strong support for claims by battered women's advocates that domestic violence is harmful to children. The author argues against custody mediation between abusers and their victims but acknowledges relatively few identify themselves. Some suggestions on ways violent relationships are offered, plus some ideas measures mediators may take in those jurisdictions where mandatory. Research findings suggest taking a new look at parent-child contact after marriages terminate divorce, including stronger focus the best interests of child rather than parental rights.
