摘要: Objective: The authors performed a case-control study of neuroleptic malignant syndrome to identify potential risk factors. Method: Twenty-five patients with were matched 50 comparison subjects on age, sex, primary psychiatric diagnosis, and time admission the hospital. records all reviewed independently by two researchers for information postulated Exploratory direct comparisons groups followed conditional logistic regression analysis. Results: Patients more likely be agitated or dehydrated before development syndrome, often needed restraint seclusion, received larger doses neuroleptics soon after hospitalization. Previous treatment ECT increased vulnerability. Conclusions: prevalence may reduced avoiding large over short periods in management acute psychosis paying adequate attention patient’s hydration electrolyte status.
