The effects of task-oriented client-centered training on physical function and self-esteem of persons with spinal cord injury in Ubolratana District, Khon Kaen Province

摘要: At present, the task-oriented client-centered training has emerged as an alternative rehabilitation approach for persons with spinal cord injury. No research about this approach, however, been reported inThailand. This study aimed to evaluate effects of 8-week on physical function and self-esteem 12 injury (1 woman 11 men, mean age ± SD 39.0±13.0 years, length time since 10.7±11.5 years) who were living in Ubolratana District,KhonKaenProvince. Outcome measures consisted which assessed at pre- post-training periods by using Spinal Cord Independence Measure version III Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale-Thai version, respectively. Data analyzed paired t-tests. The results showed that significantly improved participants (P=0.001, 95% CI 3.22 7.12), especially areas respiration sphincter management (P=0.008, 0.57 2.94) mobility indoors outdoors (P=0.003, 1.06 4.10). other positive effect was also found (P=0.043, 0.05 2.78). In conclusion, program could improve District,KhonKaenProvince, compared pre-training period. Future studies a randomized controlled trial longitudinal design are suggested reveal further benefits community.
