摘要: Seed dispersal patterns and seed persistence in the soil should strongly influence distribution of pioneer tree recruits gaps. Nonetheless, for pioneers are poorly known, processes controlling fate seeds have been little explored. We examined rain, abundance soil, mortality two common trees, Miconia argentea (Melastomataceae) Cecropia insignis (Moraceae), on Barro Colorado Island, Panama. For each species, we selected four isolated, reproductive trees within a 50-ha forest dynamics plot. rain bank samples were collected, respectively, mesh traps from cores sampled along transects radiating away crowns.
