Inception of corona and rate of rise of voltage in diverging electric fields

摘要: Semi-empirical relationships are given for corona inception fields in air, under both steady and impulse voltage conditions. These have been related to voltages and, the case, rate of rise voltage. Experiments with varying dV/dt, applied hemispherically ended rods three different radii, show agreement theory. It is shown that expressions derived provide a useful tool quick calculation positive onset.
