The influence of client platform on web page content: Measurements, analysis, and implications

摘要: Modern web users have access to a wide and diverse range of client platforms browse the web. While it is anecdotally believed that same URL may result in different page across platforms, extent which this occurs not known. In work, we systematically study impact (browsers, operating systems, devices, vantage points) on content base HTML pages. We collect analyze downloaded for 3876 pages composed top 250 sites using 32 period 30 days — our dataset includes over 3.5 million downloads. find statistically significant influence downloads both expected unexpected ways. discuss these results will several application domains including archiving, user experience, social interactions information sharing, sentiment analysis.
