摘要: A growing body of animal and epidemiological studies suggest that metabolic diseases such as obesity, insulin resistance, syndrome type 2 diabetes mellitus are associated with the development cognitive impairment, dementia Alzheimer's disease, particularly in aging. Several lines evidence signalling dysfunction produces these alterations underlie neurodegenerative diseases. In this article, we address normal function synapse; review discuss physiopathological hallmarks synaptic alterations. Additionally, describe major models mellitus. The comprehensive knowledge molecular mechanisms behind association impairment could facilitate early detection patients alterations, treatment focus on neuroprotection. It also help metabolic-based therapies drugs for using disease to alleviate their symptoms a more efficient way.
