摘要: Optimal control theory is finding increased application in both theoretical and applied ecology, it a central element of adaptive resource management. One the steps an management process to develop alternative models system dynamics, that are all reasonable light available data, but differ substan- tially their implications for optimal resource. We explored how form recruitment survival functions general population model ducks affected patterns harvest strategy, using combination analytical, numerical, simulation techniques. compared three relationships between pop- ulation density (linear, exponential, hyperbolic) during nonharvest season (constant, logistic, one related compensatory mortality hypothesis). found component had dramatic influence on strategy ultimate equi- librium state system. For instance, while commonly assumed hypothesis leads higher rates than additive hypothesis, we this depend function, part because differences steady-state density. This work has strong direct consequences those developing describe harvested systems, relevant larger class problems applying at level. Often, different func- tional forms will not be statistically distinguishable range data. Nevertheless, outside data can have important impact strategy. Thus, development by iden- tifying single functional form, then choosing parameter combinations from extremes likelihood profile may end up producing alternatives do as importantly if been used. recommend biological knowledge used bracket possible forms, robustness conclusions checked over range.
