摘要: Abstract: This chapter discusses laser cladding and surface alloying techniques for modification of commercial turbine blades, AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel Ti–6Al–4 V, to combat liquid impact erosion. The materials are modified using nickel titanium-based intermetallic composites strengthened by ceramic reinforcements. Among the different coatings tested, grain boundary strengthened, WC-reinforced aluminide matrix showed highest erosion resistance up 1408 min/ mm3 compared with base material 79.6 min/mm3. experiments revealed dominance microstructural features importance mechanical properties in improving resistance. intermetallic-based composite could be a better coating blades improved tribological properties.
