摘要: Eyewitness identifications play an important role in the investigation and prosecution of crimes, but it is well known that eyewitnesses make mistakes, often with serious consequences. In light these concerns, National Academy Sciences recently convened a panel experts to undertake comprehensive study current practice use eyewitness testimony, eye toward understanding why identification errors occur what can be done prevent them. The work this committee led key findings recommendations for reform, detailed consensus report entitled Identifying Culprit: Assessing Identification review, I focus on scientific issues emerged from study, along brief discussions how specific additional research, best practices law enforcement, evidence by courts.
