摘要: Abstract : Tuberculosis (TB) is a re-emerging infectious disease threat worldwide. To protect the health and readiness of US military personnel, policies exist to screen for treat latent TB infection at time service entrance. Results this screening programme have not been recently described. Multivariate regression techniques were used evaluate demographic medical data associated with among all young adults entering Navy enlisted between 1 October 1997 30 September 1998. A total 44 128 (ages 17-35, 81% male) screened during 12-month period. The prevalence was 3.5%. Place birth very strongly infection, foreign-born recruits eight times more likely reactive tuberculin skin test or history infection. Those who reported their race as Asian/Pacific Island' had 3.8 odds having evidence compared Caucasian' recruits, even after adjusting place birth. last 2.5% nearly 10 years ago. apparent increase 3.5% in large cohort due concurrent number it serves underscore importance comprehensive treatment infections population.
