摘要: The neuronal nicotinic receptor has gained considerable recognition as a target, not just for combating drug addiction but also treating number of illnesses ranging from neurodegenerative diseases to psychotic disorders like schizophrenia. This led burgeoning field examining the at all levels. A class receptors that contains alpha7 gene product, apparently homomer, illustrates this multidisciplinary approach. Here, we review recent progress in our understanding based on data molecular, structural, physiological and patho-physiological studies. These studies have set stage rational design combat central nervous system. exemplify cautious approach needed developing CNS therapies importance physiology tempering design.
