摘要: Abstract Rats hypophysectomized at 6 days of age continue to grow but a subnormal rate. At 24 days, when maturation the intestinal epithelium normally culminates, intestine is disproportionately small. The crypts are shallow and mitotic rate low. villi short, they fail achieve broad, leaflike form found in controls. absorptive cells acquire deep subnuclear zone, their surfaces apparently cease carry on pinocytosis. Rough endoplasmic reticulum however sparse, Golgi complexes small atypical structure. Duodenal alkaline phosphatase remains low level characteristic neonatal intestine. Sucrase activity appears jejunum, maltase increases slightly, both activities less than third those intact animals days. If pituitary removed later enzyme higher after early ablation, remain deficient even operation performed 16
