A New Species of Characidium (Characiformes: Crenuchidae) from the Lower Amazon

摘要: Characidium papachibe, new species, is described from the Rio Arua, tributary of Tapajos basin, lower Amazon, State Para, Brazil. The species can be easily distinguished its congeners, except C. serrano and heirmostigmata, by presence anteriorly oblique, midlateral bands centered on lateral line or just ventral thereof not reaching either dorsum ventrum. papachibe serrano, psammophile congeners arrangement number oblique bars body sides, a simultaneous occurrence morphometric meristic characters. Comments about groups are presented.
