摘要: Abiotic degradation of cis-dichloroethylene (cis-DCE) and vinyl chloride (VC) was investigated using Fe hydroxides obtained by hydrolyzing Fe(II) salts over a pH range 7.7–8.0. Within this narrow range, green rust (GR) precipitated. The dechlorination reactivity the resulting GR precipitates increased with dissolved concentration remaining in solution after precipitation. Controls run only supernatant were not reactive, suggesting relative amount on surface precipitated GRs causative agent reactivity. To test this, series batches varying concentrations prepared acid-base titration examined for cis-DCE VC kinetics under reducing conditions. X-ray diffraction (XRD) photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses these performed to characterize bulk mineralogy excess Fe(II), respectively. Cis-DCE results along solid phase characterization show that different Fe(II)/Fe(III) compositions are responsible formed within precipitation zone.
