摘要: Our understanding of factors affecting nest predation and ability to mitigate high rates is hampered by a lack information on the importance various predator species in different habitats landscapes. We identified predators songbird nests old-field forest central Missouri, USA, with miniature video cameras. used an information-theoretic approach evaluate support for hypotheses that varied among stage. monitored 165 cameras 272 without during 1997-1999, at 61 74 depredated Model selection indicated most model seperate birds, mammels, snakes field habitats. Predation was greater than mammels birds old fields; (mostly rccoons [Procyon lotor]) forest. found little hypothesis monitoring effects predation. Nests could not be assigned reliably group based condition nest. believe knowledge identity abundance dominant habitat or landscape neccessary target conservation efforts reduce interpret results research success.
