摘要: Objective The Diabetes Prevention Program demonstrated the ability to delay or prevent type 2 diabetes in participants with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). Participants IGT are at high risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), a marked increase number and severity of CVD factors. We prospectively assessed impact our interventions on hypertension, dyslipidemia, events. Research design methods study group consisted 3,234 individuals randomly assigned receive intensive lifestyle intervention, metformin, placebo. Annual assessment blood pressure, lipids, electrocardiogram, events was undertaken. Results Hypertension present 30% entry then increased placebo metformin groups, although it significantly decreased intervention. Triglyceride levels fell all treatment but more Total cholesterol LDL were similar among groups. Intensive intervention HDL level reduced cumulative incidence proatherogenic phenotype B. At 3 years follow-up, use pharmacologic therapy achieve established goals 27-28% less hypertension 25% hyperlipidemia compared Over an average years, 89 from 64 positively adjudicated studywide, no differences Conclusions Lifestyle improves factor status therapy. Although noted after achieved modifications suggest that longer may reduce event rates.
