摘要: The syndrome of acute orbital mucormycosis, characterized by uncontrolled diabetes, unilateral internal and external ophthalmoplegia, proptosis, meningoencephalitis rapid death, was first reported Gregory et al. in 1943. 10 Since their report 3 cases, 23 similar cases have appeared the literature. 2-19,21 * disease has occurred presence diabetes (23 cases), cirrhosis (1 case), nephrosis diarrhea dehydration case). is caused ubiquitous, ordinarily saprophytic, nonseptate fungi comprising class Phycomycetes order Mucorales. fungus infection apparently begins nose spreads rapidly into paranasal sinuses, orbit, central nervous system. Mucorthrombosis regional arterial supply produces ischemic necrosis nasal, sinus, orbital, brain tissues. patients usually die within 2 weeks after onset disease.
