摘要: Seventy-two patients with juvenile angiofibroma have been investigated by computerized tomography (CT) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) over a period of 20 years. The evidence from these studies indicates that takes origin in the pterygo-palatine fossa at aperture pterygoid (vidian) canal. An important extension tumour is posteriorly along canal invasion cancellous bone base, and greater wing sphenoid (60 per cent patients). Distinctive features are high recurrence rate, rapidity which many tumours recur. It postulated principal determinant growth rate time surgery coupled incomplete surgical excision. inability to remove toto principally due deep sphenoid, as described above. In this series 93 recurrences occurred type extension. A contributory cause use pre-operative embolization. treatment implications findings examined.
