Electro-optic coefficients in electric-field-poled polymer waveguides

摘要: Planar waveguides were made from a linear epoxy copolymer of bisphenol-A diglycidyl ether and amino-nitro-tolane. The refractive indices, nTM nTE, the electro-optic coefficients, r33 r13, poled nonlinear-optical polymer films determined by measurements waveguide modes these at wavelength 632.8 nm, results are reported for both electrode corona poling. ratio second-order susceptibilities was found to exceed significantly theoretically expected value 3. restricted motion nonlinear chromophores during poling provides possible explanation this discrepancy. Introducing restriction parameter ν (0 ≤ 1), we develop simple model that can account coefficient ratios ranging 3 6.
