摘要: Abstract An optimal planning and preliminary-design (OPD) model was developed to maximize the annual net benefit of run-of-river (RoR) hydropower projects along a stream. The OPD identifies optimal, non-overlapping RoR given For each project, determines intake location; penstock diameter length; type, number, discharge turbines. applies genetic algorithm in two stages. first stage optimizes design individual potentially overlapping densely spaced at uniform intervals stream second set that maximizes benefit. Results compared favorably results previous models for hypothetical case study. Further application idealized studies with different elevation profiles tributary flows indicated gives reliable results. used identify Guder River, Ethiopia. identified 22 covering ∼49 km 127-km-long River. total generated energy from is ∼540 GWh installed capacity ranges between ∼1 MW 21 MW.
