摘要: We have developed a quantitative assay for experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) in the rat based on permeability of spinal cord to 125I-human γ-globulin (HGG). This is highly reproducible and eliminates many drawbacks assaying EAE basis clinical and/or histologic criteria. Using assay, we shown direct correlation between onset changes cord. No without lesions manifest alterations, all rats with did increased 125I-HGG. Furthermore, strains susceptible demonstrated changes, whereas resistant not. In addition, by criteria that guinea pig myelin basic protein emulsified incomplete Freund's adjuvant encephalitogenic Lewis rat. also recipients passive transfer sensitized cells develop along lesions. conclude measuring 125I-HGG cords valid EAE, it improves upon current indices readily quantifiable.
