X-ray tomography and finite element simulation of the indentation behavior of metal foams

摘要: The deformation mechanisms during indentation of aluminum-based metal foams are examined by use X-ray tomography and the finite element method. was found to be almost totally restricted a spherical cap-shape compacted zone under indenter. An analytical expression is given which describes changes in size as function diameter indenter, depth relative density foam. Results simulations calculated were reasonably good agreement.
