Free radical scavenging activity of the alcoholic extract of Trewia polycarpa roots in arthritic rats.

摘要: The alcoholic extract of Trewia polycarpa roots (TPE), which exhibited significant anti-inflammatory activity, was evaluated for the possible mode action by studying its antioxidant potential in adjuvant-induced arthritic rats. biological defence system constituting superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, ascorbic acid showed a increase while lipid peroxide content found to decrease large extent on TPE treatment thereby indicating extracts free radical scavenging property. Histopathological studies too supported anti-arthritic polycarpa.
