摘要: Glia have emerged as key contributors to pathological and chronic pain mechanisms. On activation, both astrocytes microglia respond release a number of signalling molecules, which protective and/or functions. Here we review the current understanding contribution glia neuroprotection, how protective, anti-inflammatory actions are being harnessed develop new drug targets for neuropathic control. Given prevalence partial efficacy drugs, exclusively target neuronal mechanisms, strategies manipulate neuron–glia interactions in processing hold considerable promise.
